Katan is the Hebrew word for ״little.״ Although small in size, today's young children play a very BIG role in our community, ensuring our future.
Club Katan is a program for pre-schoolers and their families that is open to the entire community regardless of affiliation. Club Katan takes place on Sunday mornings from 9:30-12:30. In Club Katan families learn about Shabbat and holidays through arts and crafts, baking, games, music, storytelling. A snack is also served.
During the months of January and February, when our religious school is held on Saturday mornings rather than Sundays, Club Katan will meet on Saturdays to celebrate Shabbat with song, dance, stories, movement and food. Club Katan will join the congregation in the sanctuary as the Torah is removed from the ark, and will be invited up to the bimah [platform] as the Torah is read. Club Katan will join the entire religious school for Kiddush. Club Katan families are invited to attend our monthly Shabbat b’Yachad—a family friendly service on the first Friday of each month. Club Katan families are also invited to other Temple Beth-El events such as holiday celebrations, educational courses, and social events.
